I'm switching to Verizon, and I was wondering if any of the Blackberry phones are good for non-business. Also, are any of them good for texting?

people will tell you blackberries have good keyboards, while this is true they're very cheaply built. i have an HTC Hero but most of my friend's have blackberries. just about all of them have broken their phones at least twice (for reference, my hero has never broken).

get an android based phone from HTC, they're better for "non business" activities. i find blackberries aren't really smartphones but "enhanced dumb-phones"

All Blackberry's are great for texting! BBM (Black Berry Messenger) is a huge feature and reason people enjoy blackberry. Besides that, they are perfectly fine for non business users. Many of my friends have them. They are stylish, look cool, come in great colors, and have many features that you will enjoy. It has an app store, games, texting, Facebook, photos, everything you will want. It is a great phone for any user. They just happen to bring forward great business features, but they are perfectly capable if you don't want to use it for that purpose.

Features in BlackBerry Messenger:
Communicate in real time
Share immediately: send and receive messages in seconds and see when your contacts are typing.
Don't hold back: share your thoughts, stories and rants with unlimited characters and emoticons.
Get confirmation: know when your messages are delivered and read.
Add friends: add contacts by swapping PINs or scanning barcodes!
Create groups: connect instantly with personal groups of friends, family or coworkers with BlackBerry Groups.
Text non-BBM friends: send text messages from your BBM™ screen2—just add contacts without BBM to your list by phone number.
App experiences: share or chat with BBM friends while you're in an app with BBM-connected apps.
Multimedia: swap pictures, videos, voice notes and more—send files up to 6 MB.
Your calendar and location: share calendar entries and locations.
Personal expressions: personalize your BBM with a display picture and personal message.
App profile feeds: display your latest BBM-connected app game scores, location, links and more in your BBM profile feed.

Good Luck!

I have a Blackberry I think its good for texting because of the full keyboard and there are a lot of other good things about it but lately it has been acting weird freezing, it wont let me click on anything, I constantly have to take the battery out to restart it and it takes about 10 minutes for it to restart , at least for me. Im going in tomarrow to see if i can be upgraded.
