Which starship Captain is your favorite and why?
Captain Sisko.
Captain Sisko was the best Captain within the Trek-verse in my opinion. He stood by his crew. He stood for the mission. He stood for the common good. He was human and funny. He learned how to deal with his pain and move on. He was a father. He was loyal to the Federation, but also stood for what was right. He was personable and down to Earth. He was not full of himself. He was very easy to like.
Kirk was a great Captain, as well. However, Kirk is flawed in the fact that he fell too easily for a woman's charms. Granted, it is natural for a man to want to love and connect with a woman; I just felt it was his own personal flaw that he had to be so susceptible to a woman in every other episode.
Janeway is a good Captain, too. However, there were a few times that she totally acted insane and tried to kill certain crew members, including Tom Paris (a long standing officer onboard Voyager who saved the ship countless times). She also has had an unexplained irrational hatred or lack of respect for time travel (or protecting the time line), too.
Picard is a descent Captain. He was very diplomatic and knew how to take action when the situation called for it. However, even though I like Picard; In reflection: I think he was too stuffy or rigid in his presence to be a truly effective Captain. He was not the type of Captain that you could go up to and talk about something that was bothering you (unless he knew you). This lack of being able to talk fairly to all people was evident in the fact that he had a hard time talking or relating to children.
Archer was the worst Captain, in my opinion. He had absolutely zero personality. He also gave me no reason to like him either. I liked Porthos more than I liked Archer. Furthermore, Scott Bakula is definitely not the greatest actor, either. I know there are a lot of Bakula fans out there. However, I just knew that when he was cast for the series, that it would suffer at some point (in part) because of him.
