I had to take a health class, my teacher asked how fast can you safely lose 10 pounds. I had no idea. I assume 1 pound of fat was equal to 2500 calories and the the safest calorie deficit a 2000 calorie diet person could on was 200 (so 1800 calories minimum) without causing problems. That calculation gave me 125 or a little over 4 months to lose 10 pounds. I got only 1 point deducted out of 18 for that answer despite the incorrect calories for a pound of fat (3500 calories/lb)

I tried looking up what would be the safest route but I couldn't find a satisfactory answer. 1 source, I think it might have been about.com. said a 500 calorie deficit was max and that you can safely lose 2 pounds a week. Do the math those numbers don't agree with each other! (for a 200 calorie diet person) On top of that I only seem to find info on sites trying to sell a product or promote a diet/fitness regimen. WTH! Where do I find the right answer!

I frequent Scooby Workshop, a natural bodybuilding website and There seems to be a lot of unbiased info there but the problem is he doesn't cite any of his sources! Where do I go to find the peer reviewed studies and what not?

HELP!!!
EDIT: If you're gonna post back it up with a trustworthy source. I'm not interested in your opinion on the subject. if there aren't any trustworthy source due to lack of research in the area then just say that.
oh yeah I'm interested in losing weight so shut up

There is basically only one way to shed fat: you have to use more energy than you take in.   People make things more complicated than they are.   Fad diets and supplements are businesses.   Have a healthy input and burn off the excess and you will not only lose weight but you will feel so much better.

That is the most common question my friends ask me. I am no doctor but I was able to lose 40 lbs in the last 7 months and was able to shrink my belly fat to a respectable size.
Protein helps the body utilize carbohydrates better. If carbohydrates like bread, rice, etc., are not processed properly, it increases the body's insulin levels and that in turns make the body store fat.

So if you want to lose fat the first thing you need to change is your eating habits, stay away from food made from processed flours, don't eat anything that has a lot of sugar and always include protein in your meals.

The second thing you need to do is exercise. I know it's not groundbreaking advice but if you include exercise with your new diet plan you will see outstanding results. Believe me because I saw the results with my own body.

It is advised that you get at least an hour of exercise per day; of course you can increase this if you are more physically fit. I really do encourage exercising everyday or every other day because through exercise the body burns the remaining sugar in our body, and once the sugar have ran out, our body will use your stored fat as fuel. Once that happens then you will see explosive results.

But the key thing to remember here is to control you intake of carbohydrate rich foods. This is the real culprit of weight gain and belly fat. One good rule to remember is to always go natural, eat things that are natural like fruits, vegetable, meat and other stuff that Mother Nature provides. Remember that our body is not designed to process food made from flour and food high in sugar. You cannot find bread in the forest right? So why eat it.

But when reality sets in you cannot always eat natural foods, sometimes you need to eat bread and other sweet things. But you don't have to worry about that, there are now supplements that help decrease your carbohydrate intake to help you with your weight loss.

A lot of people get frustrated with losing weight because it takes too long. But there are supplements out there that can help you with losing weight safe and fast. You don't need to slave away hours working out, you can just do an hour of exercise and take a Weight Loss Supplement, so you can spend the rest of your time with your loved ones.
