How do i get my boyfriend to think twice about joining the military?

My boyfriend and i have been together for a long while and he graduates this upcoming school year. His father was a navy seal which is where his wanting to join the military comes from. He's gone through wanting to be different things in the military to other things. for example, he's wanted to be a seal, an army ranger, many other jobs not in the military, but now he says he wants to be an EOD in the navy. whether his job is an EOD or not, he seems serious about the military this time.
Don't get me wrong, i respect what the military does very much. i just want him to understand that his decision dosne't only affect him, it affects others aswell. i also want him to understand that it isn't what it's like in video games...it's real life. i've said these things to him but he dosen't understand
i've tried to tell him that he would be changing my life in what would be the best years of my life. i don't feel that i am strong enough to handle a military relationship especially at such a young age.
if he does decide to do it, do you have any tips on how to make it work? i love him and respect the military and love what tgey do, i just want him to think twice about it.

There are plenty of videos of guys who are now amputees from the military on youtube. That will make anyone think twice...or thrice!

Dude who cares? With your stupid boyfriend gone, you can cheat all you want
and because he's stupid, he's almost DEFINTELY not gonna find out
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Unless your stupid too, because its kind of easy to tell idiots that the military isn't like the video games.

Don't stand in his way. Clearly this is very important to him and he's already made up his mind. Most relationships end after high school, this is reality. Your feelings should not be a priority to him when making long term plans, you need to understand how unreasonable it is to expect him to give up a dream for you. Be supportive and enjoy what time you have left.

Try to get him to do a job where you can still be with him. My father worked at a naval base in Scotland, he mostly fixed submarines that had been damaged and worked around the base. There were times when he had to go on ships. But my mother lived with him at the base. You just have to try to convince him into a job where he won't be on the front lines.

1. Find video of EOD blowing something up.
2. Show him said video.
3. Repeat with videos, getting more graphic with each video.if you can't find a video, Google image it.
