I am going to be very honest, bc I want help with this badly.

I am intelligent, motivated, dedicated and hard working. However, I have no connections in media and I do not know how to break in.

I went to a four year university, started out majoring in Broadcast Journalism. I joined the campus newspaper. I was on the campus TV station--all my freshman year. I became discouraged in between sophomore and junior years-- when it was time to look for internships. So I switched to Elementary Education and English. I graduated with a BA in English and ELED, and a Minor in Mass Media Studies. The summer after graduation, I got an on-air internship for a streaming financial news website, which went under shortly after. I did, however, get some tapes. I met a local freelance news man at a drowning at the ocean. I approached him and made a contact. He helped me shoot some more footage for a demo. I shipped this demo ALL over the country. I have writing samples (newspaper,) as well for interviews. But I was never contacted--not even so much as a rejection, for the 75 demos I sprinkled from Portland, OR to Portland, ME.

 Here is that demo:

My question to you is--what am I doing wrong? It's been 3 years but I'm not ready to give up. I want to go back to school.

What schools are willing to guide students into internships? I think once I get the internship at a station, no matter how small, I will do really well there and will get a job. But I can't even get in the door. I almost got in trouble with a ND for kind of sneaking in to hand deliver my demo :-( I got yelled at. Anyway. I am really at a loss--mailing doesn't work, sneaking in doesn't work...what can I do??

Any real 4 year school's Communication program offers internships with radio and/or TV stations.
Problem is you missed your opportunity. You should be looking in the very smallest markets...the only ones who MAY take a chance on a rookie.

Damn that kinda sucks. I guess you need to have connections around to make your job easier. I have no idea on what can i tell you but try to find some forums related to your problem or a forum with people who can guide you or give you some tips.

I would suggest applying to the master's program at Emerson College in Boston.  A degree from there will get you far. They have a lot of internships and the students get good jobs when they graduate.
If you go back to your old school to visit, they should have a data base where you can search for jobs.

It sounds like you're american and attended an american school. I live in Canada and I can tell that here in Toronto we have some great schools for broadcast/television and that there are many great internships and connections you can make while you're in school. You may want to look into it-it may be easier to break into the field up here.

Also, why not try and find a mentor or volunteer at a station near your home. That way you can get some more experience and guidance on your career?
