What is up with all these E. Coli break outs everywhere?

Now in Oklahoma? Where is this stuff coming from http://edmond.kfor.com/news/families/e-coli-bacteria-found-local-lake/80644

Is it linked to the extreme heat? Or the Breakout that happened in Germany or whatever. Is it in the rain? Wtf is going on its starting to worry me because I don't live to far from that and I don't want that stuff in my water :S

you have about 3 billion of them already in your body^^ - sometimes these bacteria just evolve and become malicious - thankfully most of these new strains only make you sick - few are livethreatening

these outbreakes are not linked to the environment as heat more probably to unhealthy living and wrong use of antibiotics - just because the last strain was unusually deathly led to a media frency - its not much more than the usuall amounts of deaths due to e coli per year

One outbreak was blamed on feral pigs crapping on fields. I s'pose there are feral pigs all over the USA. You can also find sewage spills from cities happening too.
...and, of course, you can get it from a restaurant where someone who handles food doesn't wash his hands after wiping his butt.

The E-coli break outs which occurred in Germany were due to a brand new unseen before strain. E-coli naturally lives inside us all our lives, as well as other 'bad' bacteria. It's the 'good' bacteria which cancels it out. There's are E-coli deaths every year... but usually by the most vulnerable such as pregnant women, children, the elderly, and people in third world countries i guess. Others just get sickness, and diarrhea... Not much to worry about as long as you're not any of the above. Chances you'll get it are out of a million
