I think I got this virus when I clicked on an update that wasn't legit. (Something like disk defragmenter?) So as soon as my computer started sending me all these "you've been hacked" messages and doing scans I didn't authorize, I tried to run McAfee. After a few tries it did a scan, but then Win7 wouldn't let me open the internet or almost anything else on my computer.
I tried to download Malwarebytes on a diff computer, but it wouldn't work (kept sending me somewhere else, but never downloading).
I also started my comp in safe mode, but then when I open McAfee it keeps telling me Real-time scanning is off no matter how many times I turn it back on...
Can anyone break it down in REALLY EASY terms how to get this off my comp? Or do I need to see a Pro IT? Please help!

Is there some kind of error that pops up when you try to do things like get on the internet.  If there is look up what kind of virus causes that error and usually windows will have something downloadable you can transfer using a usb stick in safe mode.  If not you may have to see the Pro.  I wouldnt use McAfee any more though.  My brother is a tech and he hates McAfee almost as much as he does viruses.  Look for Avira Anti-Guard when you get your problem fixed.  Its free to personal users and does a really good job of protecting your pc.

I just got rid of that virus 5 minutes ago. Reset your computer while it says "starting windows" and you should get an option to do start up repair. Then restore your system to an earlier date, problem solved!
